: 4 hours and 30 minutes - Art Performance by Half Swiss (christian & nicolas gerber) ©2007
This performance took place in a very strange atmosphere though it was a festival in one of the most popular quarter in Marseilles. We asked the organisation to borrow us a table and chairs, we disposed the furnitures in the corner of the place that was reserved for Art Performance - a very isolated and square space comparing to the complex, crowded and noisy atmosphere of the outside. Our performance space was symbolically the Un-Corner of Un-Consciousness. We sat there... During all the performance 83 people came to visit us, they could seat and chat - we asked other artists to get some packs of beer for a better conviviality. All objects that were consumed had to be placed on the table. Christian an me had to organize a way to piss because we were not in the situation to leave the table, so we asked for an empty Evian bottle that we cut - we pissed an average of 1 liter each in two steps (4 persons helped to empty the full bottle, rince and bring it back to us). 5 minutes before Twelve, we concentrated for the end of the performance - we wrote a small speech that we recited to the last audience 1 minute before 12pm (in french and english) :
« Good Evening to you, we are in a square space, we think that people work too much, that they go too quickly to one point, this (pointing the table) is a monument for survey, conviviality is an autonomous economy and a total desire, that's our economy of means. This is a homage to Jean Luc Godard, thank you and good night ».
«Half Swiss had installed themselves around a table where they invited the public to participate in a discussion about art. They passed out beers liberally and actually asked and took notes about the conversation.» Theo Di Ricco
